The CarCoding mobile app for iPhone and Android works with an ELM327 BLE OBD2 adapter to access the BMW Tailgate Function Module. This unit manages the tailgate and active rear spoiler. It is available in eight versions, and for F/G series vehicles, the unit is read from the car via SVK.

CarCoding allows you to change twelve settings within this module. You can adjust the active rear spoiler extension and retraction speeds. Other options include closing the tailgate with a remote control, using the interior button, or closing it with a remote without a long press.

Tailgate function when pulling the button in the interior	The tailgate function that is triggered when the button in the interior is pulled up.
Close tailgate with button in the interior without long press	Enable/disable the closing of the tailgate with the button in the interior without a long press.
Tailgate function remote control	The tailgate function that is triggered when the button on the remote is pressed.
Close tailgate with the remote control without long press	Enable/disable closing the tailgate without a long press of the button on the remote control.
Warning sound when closing the tailgate with remote control	A warning signal sounds when the tailgate is closed with the remote control.
Warning sound when closing the tailgate with the button in the interior	A warning signal sounds when the tailgate is closed with the button in the interior.

Active Rear Spoiler

Setting	Description
Active Rear Spoiler extension speed	The speed at which the Active Rear Spoiler is extended.
Active Rear Spoiler retraction speed	The speed at which the Active Rear Spoiler is retracted.
