The BMW Headunit coding unit manages media and navigation functions in your vehicle. CarCoding allows you to modify 48 settings within this unit. This feature is available for F and G series models, where the unit is read from the car via SVK.

You can adjust settings across sections like Video, Warnings, and Audio. Examples include enabling video in motion, adjusting maximum volume at startup, and configuring HUD turn signals. The app also supports changes to daytime running lights and acoustical lock confirmation.

Display options iDrive system

Setting	Description
Pressure and temperature in tire pressure monitor	Enable/disable the pressure and temperature in the tire pressure monitor in the iDrive system. Please note that the car has to be equipped with the required sensors. This option affects the display only and it is not possible to completely deactivate the tire pressure monitoring in the car.
Service history	Enable/disable the service history in the iDrive system.
Start animation	The animation that is displayed when the iDrive system is started. Please note that the animation is not visible every time you start the car, but only under certain circumstances.
Volume popup	Enable/disable the volume popup that is displayed when the volume is changed.
Tire pressure control	The displayed values of the tire pressure control in the iDrive system. Please note that the car has to be equipped with the required sensors to make this work.
Rear view camera zoom	Enable/disable the rear view camera zoom to the trailer hitch.
Display full text messages	Enable the full display of text messages while driving. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.
xView display	Enable the xView display to view roll and tilt angles as well as the xDrive power distribution.
Start screen	The type of start screen that is displayed when the headunit starts up.

Engine sound menu	Activate the engine sound menu that allows you choosing between different engine sounds settings.

Audio

Setting	Description
Maximum volume at startup	The maximum volume that is saved when the iDrive system is shut off and restored automatically on the next startup.
Bluetooth audio streaming (1 of 2)	This coding enables wireless audio streaming via Bluetooth. Please note that for this function, “Bluetooth audio streaming (2 of 2)” must also be activated in the “Combox” control unit. If there is no “Combox” installed in your car, Bluetooth audio streaming is not possible unfortunately. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.
Warning chime	The warning chime that sounds when a warning is displayed in the car.
Ringtone	The ringtone that is used in case of an incoming call.
Bluetooth audio streaming	This coding enables wireless audio streaming via Bluetooth. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.
Bowers & Wilkins sound settings	With the Bowers & Wilkins sound settings, extended sound presets are activated in the settings in the iDrive system under “Sound”. Please note that these only have an effect if a Harman Kardon sound system is installed in the vehicle. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.

Sport displays

Setting	Description
Sport displays	Enable/disable the Sport displays in the iDrive system. Please note that in some cars the engine control unit does not transmit the required values to the headunit and in this case the Sport displays will be displayed but remain functionless.
Sport displays color	The color of the Sport displays in the iDrive system.
Sport displays values	The values shown in the sports displays. Please note that, depending on the vehicle, not all displays may work.
G-Meter maximum value	The maximum value displayed in the G-meter for scaling.

Video

Setting	Description
Video in motion	Activate video in motion. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.
Video via USB	Enable video playback from USB storage media. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.
Additional video codecs and formats	Activate additional video codecs and formats (Ogg, Xvid and VCD). Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.
Video in motion	Enable video in motion. Please note the instructions displayed after coding.

Driving mode

Setting	Description
SPORT driving mode configurable (1 of 2)	Activates the “Configure SPORT” option in the iDrive system, which allows you to configure the SPORT driving mode individually. Please note that “SPORT mode configurable (2 of 2)” in the “Integrated Chassis Management” control unit has to be enabled additionally. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.
SPORT+ driving mode (2 of 2)	Add the SPORT+ driving mode for cars that do not have this option by factory. Please note that “SPORT+ driving mode (1 of 2)” in the “Body Domain Controller” control unit has to be enabled additionally. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied. Do not use this if your car already has the SPORT+ driving mode!
COMFORT+ driving mode (2 of 2)	Add the COMFORT+ driving mode for cars that do not have this option by factory. Please note that “COMFORT+ driving mode (1 of 2)” in the “Body Domain Controller” control unit has to be enabled additionally. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.

Warnings

Setting	Description
Warning at startup	Disable the warning that is displayed when the iDrive system is started. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.
Camera warning	Disable the warning that is displayed when using one of the cameras. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.
Night vision warning	Disable the warning that is displayed when using the night vision camera. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.

Seat heating/cooling

Setting	Description
Seat heating front automatic activation (1 of 2)	The iDrive system can be used to set the front seat heating to be activated automatically below a certain outside temperature. The option “Seat heating automatic activation (2 of 2)” must also be activated in the “Body Domain Controller”. Please note that a “BDC_BODY2” or “BDC_BODY3” is required.
Seat heating rear automatic activation (1 of 2)	The iDrive system can be used to set the rear seat heating to be activated automatically below a certain outside temperature. The option “Seat heating automatic activation (2 of 2)” must also be activated in the “Body Domain Controller”.
Steering wheel heating automatic activation (1 of 2)	—

Doors/windows

Setting	Description
Lock after pulling away	Enable/disable the “Lock after pulling away” checkbox in the settings in the iDrive system in the car.
Close roof automatically (2 of 2)	The roof closes automatically to the closed or tilted position when rain is detected or after 6 hours. Please also enable “Close roof automatically (1 of 2)” in the “Roof Function Center”. Once coded, the feature can be enabled via iDrive under: Car > Settings > Doors/vehicle access. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.

Hud

Setting	Description
HUD turn signals (2 of 2)	Enable/disable the turn signals in the HUD. Please note that “HUD turn signals (1 of 2)” in the “Instrument Cluster” control unit has to be enabled additionally. It may also be necessary to enable the corresponding checkbox in the HUD settings in the iDrive system in the car. This function is not supported, if the car is equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster.
Sport displays in HUD (2 of 2)	Activation of the sports displays in the HUD. Please note that “Sports displays in the HUD (1 of 2)” must also be activated in the “Instrument cluster” control unit. After coding, the sports displays must be activated in the settings for the HUD in the iDrive system in the car additionally.

Acoustical confirmation

Setting	Description
Checkbox acoustical lock confirmation	Enable/disable the checkbox in the settings for doors/keys in the iDrive system to enable/disable the acoustical lock confirmation. If the checkbox in the iDrive system does not allow selection, please check if “Acoustical lock/unlock confirmation” in the “Roof Function Center” control unit is set to “Active” also. Please note that the car has to be equipped with an alarm system.

CarPlay

CarPlay fullscreen mode

Show CarPlay in full screen mode.\n\nImportant: This coding only works with the iDrive software versions “NBTevo_X” and “NBTevo_Y”. You can easily check for yourself which software version is currently installed in your vehicle. To do this, navigate to the version info in the iDrive system in your vehicle (Navigation > Settings > Position and version > Version information). If you can see “NBTevo_X” or “NBTevo_Y” here, then full screen mode will work. If you see “NBTevo_N”, “NBTevo_O”, “NBTevo_P”, “NBTevo_Q”, “NBTevo_R”, “NBTevo_S”, “NBTevo_U”, “NBTEvo_V” or “NBTEvo_W” instead, then full screen mode cannot be enabled with BimmerCode unfortunately. In this case, an update of the i-level from a BMW service partner is required first.

Daytime running light

Setting	Description
Checkbox daytime running light	Enable/disable the checkbox in the lighting settings in the iDrive system to turn the daytime running light on or off.

Driving assistance

Lane Change Assistant (2 of 3)

Activation of the Lane Change Assistant for vehicles with “Driving Assistant Professional” and the entry “8TR Additional decoding function” in the vehicle order.\n\nPlease note that “Lane Change Assistant (1 of 3)” must also be activated in the “Body Domain Controller” control unit and “Lane Change Assistant (3 of 3)” in the “Optional Equipment System” control unit.\n\nThe usage of this option is subject to legal regulations in some countries, including the EU. Please check the applicable regulations in your country before using this feature.

Radio

Setting	Description
AM radio	Enable/disable the AM radio function.

Range extender

Setting	Description
Range Extender menu	Enable/disable the range extender menu that includes the “Hold state of charge” option.

Retrofit

Setting	Description
HiFi loudspeaker system	Coding for a retrofitted HiFi loudspeaker system. Use a backup to revert this coding if needed after it has been applied.

One-touch turn signal

Setting	Description
One-touch turn signal 5 times	Enable/disable the “5 times” one-touch turn signal option in the exterior lighting settings in the iDrive system.

Vehicle Sound Generator

Setting	Description
Checkbox acoustic pedestrian protection	Enable/disable the checkbox in the settings in the iDrive system to turn the acoustic pedestrian protection on or off.
