OBD2 Diagnostics and ECU Coding for Windows

The Windows version of CarCoding uses the same diagnostic and coding engine as the mobile app. It connects to your ELM327 adapter via Wi-Fi, ENET, USB or Bluetooth.

1 Download the program

The installation file is downloaded directly from carcoding.app; no store account is required. You can choose the folder during installation, and the program handles future updates automatically.

Download for Windows CarCoding-Setup.exe

The download is free. iPhone and Android versions are available on the App Store and Google Play.

2 How to connect to an adapter?

The connection screen offers four connection types. Which one to use depends on the adapter you have.

ConnectionWhen
Wi-FiELM327 adapters broadcasting Wi-Fi. Enter the adapter's IP address and port.
ENETBMW Ethernet (ENET) cable — connects directly to the vehicle network via cable.
USBELM327 adapters connected via USB; the computer recognizes them as a serial port.
BluetoothBluetooth Low Energy (BLE) adapters; uses the computer's Bluetooth hardware.

3 What does it do?

The desktop version uses the same database and protocol engine as the mobile app.

  • Read and clear fault codes — generic OBD2 codes and manufacturer-specific advanced codes.
  • Live data — RPM, speed, coolant temperature, turbo pressure and other sensors.
  • ECU module reading and coding — read and write module settings on supported vehicles.
  • Large screen: module list, setting names and raw responses are visible simultaneously.

4 Which Windows versions are supported?

Windows 10 and later, 64-bit. The installer comes with a classic setup wizard; it can also be installed to the user folder without administrator rights.

5 Differences from the mobile version

There is no difference on the vehicle side: the same protocol engine, fault codes, and coding database. The difference lies in connectivity — USB and wired ENET are desktop-only, while classic Bluetooth (SPP) adapters are Android-only.

The vehicle catalog, coding profiles, and fault code definitions come from the server; all three platforms read the same source.
